Should they win their game in hand, Pep Guardiola's side are still eight points behind runaway leaders Chelsea in the Premier League.

In Europe's elite competition, though, City's eyes are still very much on the prize.

The Citizens hold a 5-3 lead going into the second leg of their Champions League last 16 match against Monaco.

The likes of Real Madrid, Guardiola's old club Bayern Munich and Paris Saint Germain are all through to the last eight.

But former winger turned pundit Trevor Sinclair said on Twitter he believes City can go on and win the competition.

"(I've) got a feeling with Kompany fit #ChampionsLeague," Sinclair posted on Twitter.

Of course there is still plenty to do to negotiate the second leg with Monaco having three away goals in the bag.

But City will fancy their chances of scoring in France given the form of Sergio Aguero.

Whether Kompany can stay fit is another matter entirely.

Guardiola says the influential Belgian defender is now fit having made just five starts this season after suffering a host of injuries, the latest being a muscle problem.

City are currently sixth favourites to lift the coveted trophy for the first time in their history.
