Tottenham striker Vincent Janssen visited former club AZ Alkmaar on Tuesday.
Tottenham's Vincent Janssen in action
AZ Alkmaar have taken to Twitter to post a photo of Vincent Janssen visiting the club – and fans want the Tottenham flop to make a return to the club.
Janssen came on as a late substitute for Tottenham in their 3-2 win over Everton on Sunday, but given that they're out of the Europa League after a defeat to Gent, Spurs now have time off before Sunday's FA Cup clash with Millwall.
It seems that some of the Spurs players were given a day off on Tuesday, and striker Janssen took his opportunity to head back to his native Netherlands and visit former club AZ Alkmaar.
Janssen hit an impressive 31 goals in 49 games for AZ last season, but after just one year with the Eredivisie club, he was snapped up by Tottenham with a view to competing with Harry Kane in the Spurs attack.
However, Janssen has suffered a poor first season in England. The 22-year-old striker has found the net just four times this season, and all of them have come from the penalty spot as he waits for his first goal from open play.
Now something of a misfit at White Hart Lane, Janssen hasn't enjoyed much success in North London, and went back to the Netherlands on Tuesday, with AZ posting a photo of him on Twitter, stating that he 'used his spare day to visit his old club'
Whilst Spurs fans have been left unconvinced by Janssen, the same can't be said for AZ fans, who replied to the photo by pleading for the striker to return, stating that they really need him right now after a difficult run of results.
AZ have drawn each of their last three Eredivisie games, scoring just three goals, whilst they were also dumped out of the Europa League in embarrassing fashion, losing 11-2 on aggregate to Lyon.
Janssen would clearly be welcomed back to the AFAS Stadium with open arms, but for now he must fight for his place at Tottenham, given some suggestions that he could be on his way out of the club this summer.
Do you think Janssen has a long-term future at Spurs?
