Ecuador international Jefferson Orejuela has been speaking to the press in Brazil this week, and claims he is wanted by English sides Tottenham Hotspur and Wigan Athletic.

The midfielder is quoted by El Universo as making these claims regarding interest from both Spurs and Wigan:

“There is interest from England teams in making the definitive purchase of my sports rights.

“Tottenham Hotspur and Wigan Athletic are interested in me, we have to keep working.”

The 24-year-old midfield destroyer is a talented player who could certainly have a future in European football.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino is not afraid to give talented young players a chance whilst Wigan would relish the chance to sign the player. The fact that one team fighting for the Premier League title and another battling relegation in the Championship are both after the same payer however is something of a quandary.

What is even more confusing, is the fact Orejuela only just joined his current club. He made the move to Brazilian side Fluminense from Independiente del Valle in his home nation on the 12th January 2017 so any move to across the water would be something of a shock in the summer.

For the time being then, interest from Tottenham and Wigan may be just that, interest. But it will be worth watching the player’s development to see if he is worth of an England move.
