A report released yesterday by popular online sports news outlet Football.London outlined the reasons behind the dramatic rise in the cost of building Spurs' new 61,000 capacity stadium.

When plans were first made by Tottenham regarding their stadium move seven years ago, costs were estimated to be around £400 million, but that figure has since doubled.

One of the reasons for the rise in costs given by the report from Football.London is the adverse effects of Brexit, claiming that Britain's exit from the European Union added an immediate 20 per cent to the initial estimates.

Other additional features such as the 'Tottenham Experience' have added to the original estimate of costs.

Finally, the state-of-the-art retractable pitch, which was what convinced the NFL to sign their ten-year deal with Spurs has dramatically increased potential costs as it involves cutting edge technology, which is of course extremely expensive.

Spurs fans will be hoping that it is money well spent, however, as Mauricio Pochettino looks to guide his side into a new era of success, armed with far greater financial power that will be generated from their stadium move.
