No Solanke: Celtic should move for Chelsea teammate Abraham instead

Dominic Solanke scores for Chelsea

Bhoys boss Brendan Rodgers was reportedly keen on bringing Chelsea's Dominic Solanke to Celtic Park this summer.

The Sun reports Celtic will be blown out of the water in the race to sign Dominic Solanke.

The Bhoys are said to have targeted the Chelsea striker in a deal akin to the one which saw Moussa Dembele move to Glasgow for a cut-price fee of around £500,000 last summer.

Dembele, of course, is known to have admirers of his own, and whenever the Frenchman does leave Celtic, the Bhoys will be sufficiently compensated.

And, having already recorded hefty profits for the first half of the campaign, Brendan Rodgers' side can perhaps afford to loosen the purse-strings in search of his replacement.

With Liverpool and now Arsenal said to be keen on Solanke, it may not be him - but a Chelsea teammate of his could be ideal.

Teenager Tammy Abraham has excelled on loan to Bristol City this season, and had already matched Dembele's Championship tally for the whole of last season by the middle of January.

However, with Diego Costa and Michy Batshuayi currently ahead of him in the Blues' pecking order, Abraham faces a battle for game time when he returns to Stamford Bridge this summer.

Given Dembele's rapid development at Celtic, Abraham is likely to have some interest in a move to Glasgow.

And while Chelsea may not wish to sever their ties just yet, a loan deal - at the very least - could be possible given Rodgers' relationship with the Premier League leaders.

Should Celtic move for Abraham if Dembele leaves this summer?
