Fulham's Tom Cairney celebrates scoring
There were 11 fixtures in the Championship this past Tuesday, and undoubtedly some excellent goals scored. But which players from Leeds, Sheffield Wednesday, Birmingham, Rotherham, Huddersfield and Fulham have seen their strikes included in our poll for the best goal from the latest round of games?
Before you get the chance to vote, here is a look at the contenders...
Leeds got their promotion push back on track with their first win in three as they beat Bristol City 2-1 at Elland Road. While the finish for Leeds' opener from Chris Wood was nothing extraordinary from the New Zealander who has scored 19 in the Championship this term, the pass from Pablo Hernandez was sublime. His quickly taken free-kick split the Robins defence completely and demonstrated that few in the division have his vision.
Birmingham's woes under Gianfranco Zola continue, but there was one thing that the Blues can be proud of from their defeat to Preston North End. Che Adams scored a stunning goal in the 2-1 defeat as he allowed the bouncing ball to run across his body and onto his left foot 20 yards from goal before unleashing a brilliant volley into the bottom corner that perfectly skidded across the turf as it went past the Lilywhites goalkeeper.
Rotherham suffered another agonising defeat as they were beaten by high-flying Huddersfield. Their second goal had given them a 2-1 lead with less than 20 minutes to go, and to be fair, it was certainly worthy of winning the game. Tom Adeyemi picked the ball up about 35 yards from goal, but with no Millers player around him, he decided to try his luck and hit a sumptuous drive into the corner that was rising ever so slightly as it travelled through the air.
The reason that Rotherham suffered a defeat was the brilliant stoppage-time drive from Tommy Smith. The defender drilled the ball on the half volley into Rotherham's bottom corner to move Huddersfield to within four points of the top two.
Cardiff came out on top following an incredible seven-goal thriller with Derby at Pride Park. After going 2-0 down, the Bluebirds then scored three times to take the lead shortly before the hour-mark. Their third goal was surely the goal of the night as Craig Noone brought the ball under control before cutting inside from the wing and curling a gorgeous effort into the corner from 25 yards out.
Sheffield Wednesday's Vincent Sasso (C) celebrates
If Sheffield Wednesday fans had been asked before the Blackburn game who was most likely to score a brace, it seems very unlikely that Vincent Sasso would have been a name that would have cropped up too much. The defender had not scored for the Owls before Tuesday, but bagged both goals in their 2-1 win at Hillsborough. His first was particularly impressive as he found himself unmarked towards the back post from a Barry Bannan free-kick. The Wednesday centre-back proceeded to volley the ball into the top corner with the inside of right boot, evoking memories of when Alan Shearer left Peter Schmeichel with no chance with a similar finish in Newcastle's clash with Aston Villa in 2001.
Fulham are making a habit of scoring wonderful goals this season as they have two entries in our poll. The first was a brilliant team move from the Cottagers that led to Tom Cairney equalising in their clash with Nottingham Forest in a game that the home side would go on to win 3-2. Three minutes later, Lucas Piazon perhaps trumped his Fulham teammate's goal as he scored a brilliant solo effort to put Slavisa Jokanovic's side in front.
So there are the eight contenders, but who gets your vote?
