Charlie Taylor was initially expected to be back in Leeds United training this week.
Leeds United boss Garry Monk has revealed at his latest press conference that Charlie Taylor is still another week away from fitness.
Taylor has been on the verge of a return to training for some time, but the left-back is taking a long time to recover from an Achilles problem.
Leeds had hoped that Taylor would be back in training this week, but Monk’s latest update confirmed that the 23-year-old was still out.
@GarryMonk "Charlie Taylor should be back training at the start of next week and we look forward to him being back involved"— Leeds United (@LUFC) February 16, 2017
Taylor’s continued absence for Leeds is a blow, as he is such a pivotal player for Monk’s side.
Taylor is widely recognised as one of the top talents in Leeds’ team, and the Whites have fought hard to keep him at Elland Road.
Taylor’s future is still up in the air though, as his contract expires at the end of the season.
Monk would like to keep Taylor around for the long-term, but the defender is yet to commit his future to the Elland Road club.
If Taylor does return to Leeds training next week, he could be fit enough to feature against Sheffield Wednesday in two weekends’ time.
