Steve Bruce has told BBC West Midlands Sport that is now worried about Aston Villa getting dragged into a relegation fight.
Just last month, Bruce was asked whether he feared Villa could get dragged into the bottom three, and he totally dismissed the suggestion.
However, when the question was posed to him again last night, Bruce admitted that dropping into the relegation fight was a real possibility.
“Am I worried? I think I’ve got to be worried,” Bruce said. “I think we’ve got to be worried with how we’re performing at the moment. We can’t score a goal, no matter what performance we play. It’s when of them moments at the moment, where Kodjia has scored again but nobody else can contribute in that respect.”
Villa’s form has been consistently poor for too long now, for them to consider themselves safe.
The claret and blues have not won a match in 2017, and they were beaten 3-1 by Barnsley in front of their own supporters last night.
Villa look totally bereft of confidence, and they are heading into a very tough run of fixtures.
As things stand, Villa are only seven points above the bottom three, and unless they can get back to winning ways, they could find themselves looking nervously over their shoulders as the season progresses.
