The Leeds United goalie is pleased with his defensive duo.
Robert Green of Leeds United
Leeds United goalkeeper Rob Green has once again been hailing his defensive duo in front of him, as Leeds got back to winning ways at Elland Road yesterday.
Jansson came back into the side after illness and Leeds looked much stronger for his return. The pair have developed an incredible partnership since their summer arrivals and Green is pleased to have them in front of him.
He told BBC Radio Leeds after the game:
“The biggest compliment you can give to them is that the big centre forward for them [Bristol City on Tuesday night] came on and he went and stood on Luke Ayling.
“He didn’t want to compete with the two bigger guys and that’s something.
"They have been great in front of me and obviously Pontus is a real character. Barts is someone who goes out, does his job and there is in no shape or form anyone is giving anything more or less.
“The two of them have been great and knowing the Championship, a lot of balls come in the box and to have two guys who can dominate in the air, it obviously makes my job a lot easier.”
There is no doubt that Jansson gets much of the praise. His performances are very much on public display and he wears his heart on his sleeve.
Kyle Bartley of Leeds United celebrates at the end of the game with Stuart Dallas
Bartley is different, so sometimes overlooked. But he is just as impressive in the heart of defence, just without the obvious passion of Jansson that is so often displayed.
Leeds do appear to have one of the strongest defensive partnerships in the league and with the experience of Green behind them there is little wonder the club are not conceding many goals under the management of Garry Monk.
Leeds fans will be hoping that solid base can carry them to the Premier League.
