Reports emanating from Spain today suggest that the Reds are prepared to meet Espanyol defender Marc Navarro's buy-out cause of £21.3 million in the summer, according to a report from Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo.

Liverpool have been heavily criticised this season for their fragile defensive displays, with pundits and fans alike calling for Jürgen Klopp to bolster his backline.

And the German has now seemingly identified the 21-year-old Spaniard as one of his primary summer transfer targets, with Mundo Deportivo claiming that the Merseysiders have been tracking Navarro with a view to making a summer bid.

On paper, the Spaniard would be the ideal addition to the Liverpool squad.

His versatility would be a huge asset to Klopp's side, with him being equally comfortable playing in the right wing-back role as he is in the centre of defence.

Navarro is also powerfully built, and standing at 6ft 2in, his aerial presence would give the Liverpool backline that extra feeling of authority - something which they have lacked recently.

At just 21 years of age, he still has so much time to improve on his game further still, and he could prove to be a wonderful signing for the Reds.
