Former Aston Villa star Kieran Richardson may be set for a return to the Midlands as he is in talks with Coventry City about a move to the Ricoh Arena.
The Coventry Observer reports Richardson is in discussion with the Sky Blues regarding a deal to join the club and help them in their fight for survival in the third-tier.
Richardson, who had a brief stint at Cardiff City recently, is a free agent again. He spent two seasons at Villa, after a career that has seen him with the likes of Manchester United, West Brom and Sunderland. He also has eight caps for England, scoring twice on debut against Trinidad and Tobago.
Aston Villa's Kieran Richardson
Coventry recently signed Yakubu and the 32-year-old would be another high-profile signing in the club’s hopes to stay in League One. Last winter they signed fellow former England international Joe Cole and will hope Richardson can be impactful at the club.
Coventry are currently bottom of League One and 11 points short of Port Vale and safety.
Richardson would certainly have his work cut out if he did make the move.
