In something of a surprise transfer talented Tottenham Hotspur winger Nathan Oduwa left the club this week, joining Slovenian side Olimpija Ljubljana on a three-year deal.

The 20-year-old talent was highly rated among many Spurs fans, so their decision to sell the player to a Slovenian outfit certainly caught many off guard.

But it is a move that the buying club are very proud of.

The club’s sporting director Ranko Stojic is quoted by Delo as having this to say about the signing:

"This is a great day for our club. Namely put on a great football map, we are glad that we are attractive for such footballers.

“Nathan is characterized by speed and technique that we will have all the support in the right direction to develop his huge potential.

“With Oduwa in their ranks we get really quality football."

Oduwa is a skilful trickster who has clearly caught the eye across Europe with his performances. He spent time out on loan at Rangers last term and has also played for the likes of Luton Town, Colchester United and Peterborough United.

The Nigeria under-23 international was certainly a player Spurs fans had high hopes for but it appears the club did not see him as a potential long-term option for the club.

He never made a full appearance for the Tottenham Hotspur first-team and will now be hoping to help Olimpija toward their aim of domestic domination in Slovenia.

Spurs fans will no doubt wish him all the best.
