Motherwell midfielder Lee Lucas has told The Glasgow Evening Times that he always knew that Brendan Rodgers would be a success at Celtic.

Rodgers was appointed the Celtic manager in the summer of 2016 following the departure of Ronny Deila at the end of the 2015-16 season.

The former Liverpool and Swansea City manager has already been a huge success at Celtic Park.

The Hoops are running away with the Scottish Premiership title and also progressed to the group stage of the Champions League this campaign.

Celtic clinched the Scottish League Cup in November and are favourites to win the Scottish Cup this season.

Motherwell midfielder Lucas worked with Rodgers at Swansea City, and he has shared his admiration of the Celtic boss.

“It didn’t surprise me with the job he did at Liverpool when he nearly won the league and then when he came to Celtic I knew instantly he’s do a massive job,” Lucas told The Glasgow Evening Times.

“It doesn’t surprise me when I watch Celtic now because what he does there is what he brought to Swansea, the press and players ability on the ball.

“That’s what Swansea were like when he was there and they competed with the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and the big teams.

“It’s what Celtic are doing now and it’s hard for everyone else to compete with them, the way he has them set up and the type of players he’s got there he’s doing a brilliant job.”

Rodgers is a very good manager, and he is showing what he can do at Glasgow giants Celtic.

The Celtic Park faithful will hope that the former Liverpool manager guides the team to the group stage the Champions League next season.

Under Rodgers, Celtic are playing good football and are scoring freely, and those who attend the Hoops’ games regularly must surely be enjoying themselves.
