Manchester United's Anthony Martial celebrates scoring
Pundit Shaka Hislop has told ESPN that he doesn't think Manchester United would allow Anthony Martial to join Tottenham Hotspur.
Martial, 21, became the most expensive teenager in history when he joined Manchester United from Monaco in September 2015, with the Red Devils splashing out £36million rising to £58million for the Frenchman (BBC Sport).
Having hit 12 goals in 48 games for Monaco, Martial arrived with high hopes, and after scoring on his debut against Liverpool, the attacker went on to score 17 goals in 49 games in his first season for United.
Many fans expected Martial to enjoy a superb second season at Old Trafford, but he has found first-team football hard to come by under Jose Mourinho this term.
His goal and assist in the 2-0 win over Watford last weekend came in just his tenth Premier League start of the season, as he is being made to really fight for his place in the United team.
Mourinho so far hasn't seemed too keen on Martial, and it has sparked major rumours over the French international's future, with The Mirror reporting that Tottenham Hotspur are keen on a summer deal for Martial.
Tottenham were hoping to land Martial in a £21million deal in 2015 (France Football), just months before he joined United, and Mauricio Pochettino's men could now pursue a blockbuster deal at the end of the season.
Now, pundit Shaka Hislop has told ESPN that whilst Totteham would love to have Martial in their squad to offer Pochettino another attacking option, he can't see any way that United let him leave at the end of the season given his huge potential.
"I think Martial has a long-term future at Manchester United," said Hislop. "He's still only 21, they don't let him go. I'm sure that Spurs would love to have him, but Manchester United do [have him], and I don't think they'll let him go," he added.
