Aston Villa’s poor run of form continued on Tuesday evening, as they went down 3-1 to Barnsley at home.
Villa headed into the Championship game at Villa Park on the back of a 1-0 defeat to Ipswich Town at home.
Adam Armstrong put Barnsley in the lead from the penalty spot in the 25th minute, and Tom Bradshaw doubled the advantage in the 43rd minute.
Jonathan Kodjia halved the deficit for Villa on the stroke of half time, but Bradshaw restored the visiting team’s two-goal advantage just before the hour mark.
The defeat to Barnsley was Villa’s fourth successive in the Championship and saw them move closer to the relegation zone.
The Villans, who got relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2015-16 campaign, are currently 16th in the Championship table with 36 points from 31 matches.
Steve Bruce’s side are only seven points above the bottom three at the moment.
