West Ham United sold Dimitri Payet to Marseille during the January transfer window.

French media outlet L'Equipe was highly critical of Dimitri Payet's performance during Marseille's 3-2 defeat at Nantes in Ligue 1 yesterday, calling him the 'flop of the match', and rating his display at a dismal 4/10.

The 29-year-old Frenchman was in the headlines for the wrong reasons last month, when he demanded to leave former club West Ham, and refused to pay for Slaven Bilic's side.

His actions led to him becoming a hate figure in the East End of London, and his departure to France on the penultimate day of the transfer window was met with delight from Hammers fans who were glad to see the back of him.

And there is another reason for West Ham fans to smile, after Payet's dreadful performance for his new side last night.

L'Equipe gave their verdict on the game, and highlighted how he had a limited impact on the game, and his usually excellent free-kick and corner taking ability was not up to scratch.

Should West Ham move for 27-year-old striker in the summer?

The French newspaper labeled him the 'flop of the match' and awarded him with a rating of 4/10.

And selling the France international for £25 million could turn out to be a fantastic piece of business for West Ham.
