Crystal Palace reportedly want Chancel Mbemba and Newcastle United allegedly want Andros Townsend in the January transfer window.
Newcastle United and Crystal Palace could do business in the January transfer window. That’s according to The Times. It has been reported by the British national newspaper that the two clubs have opened talks over two players.

Palace want Chancel Mbemba and Newcastle want Andros Townsend, and the two clubs have reportedly opened talks over a swap deal. The Eagles are said to want to sign 22-year-old defender Mbemba on loan from the Magpies until the end of the season. Newcastle are claimed to be interested in bringing back 25-year-old winger Townsend.

Would the swap be good for both clubs? Probably. What’s the harm anyway? Mbemba has played in only seven matches in the Championship so far this season and is clearly a squad player at Newcastle at the moment. It would not do much good to the youngster to warm the substitutes’ bench for the next four or more months.
If the Eagles are willing to part company with Townsend, Newcastle manager Benitez wants him back and the winger himself is open to a return to St. James’ Park, then it would make sense for the deal to go through.
