Before every matchday weekend, Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson bravely puts out his predictions for each Premier League game. Here's what the table would look like if 'Magic Merse' was always correct:
20th Hull City - 2 points (reality: 19th - 16 points)
Merson obviously doesn't think much of the Tigers' chances of survival, after predicting they would lose twenty games so far this season. The only two instances Merse backed them to get a draw was against Stoke City and West Brom - and the latter prediction was accurate.
19th Swansea City - 10 points (17th - 18 points)
18th Sunderland - 15 points (20th - 15 points)
17th Burnley - 17 points (13th - 26 points)
Only recently has Merson begun to back Sean Dyche's side. To his credit, he rightfully guessed the Clarets would win three out of their last five.
16th Watford - 17 points (14th - 24 points)
15th Leicester City - 17 points (15th - 21 points)
Like many, Merson didn't see a title hangover coming for the Foxes. The Sky Sports pundit thought they would pick up 10 points from their opening five fixtures. His faith in Leicester has dropped off, predicting nine consecutive defeats for the Champions.
14th Middlesbrough - 19 points (16th - 20 points)
Merson didn't back Boro to win until their home game against Hull City on matchday 14.
13th West Bromwich Albion - 21 points (8th - 32 points)
Similarly, the former Aston Villa man waited until matchday 12 before predicting a Baggies win. On that occasion, Merson rightfully said that Albion would beat Burnley, and he has since correctly backed them to record victories over Watford, Swansea, Hull and Sunderland.
12th West Ham United - 25 points (10th 28 points)
Merson was right to back the Hammers to pick up back-to-back wins in December against Burnley and Hull.
11th Crystal Palace - 28 points (18th - 16 points)
Palace are one of the club's Merson has misjudged. He thought the Eagles would have four wins as early as matchday six, but it took them 14 games to collect that many victories.
10th Stoke City - 30 points (9th - 28 points)
In contrast, Merse's predictions are only two points off Stoke's current points tally, after anticipating their slow start and eventual recovery.
9th Bournemouth - 31 points (12th - 26 points)
Merse thought the Cherries would lose five of their opening six games, but he has recently been more favourable to Eddie Howe's side, predicting five wins in their last seven.
8th Southampton - 33 points (11th - 27 points)
The Sky Sport's pundit has only anticipated a Southampton draw on three occasions this season - they have drawn six - and on each instance he has been incorrect (West Ham, Chelsea and West Brom).
7th Everton - 39 points (7th - 36 points)
Merson seems to have a good grasp over Everton's fortunes this season, after his predictions show the Toffees in 7th and only three points off their current tally.
6th Tottenham Hotspur - 44 points (3rd - 46 points)
Despite predicting Spurs would have only two points less than they actually have at this stage, Merson's table sees Spurs sit three places lower in the Premier League. The ex-Arsenal player anticipated that Tottenham's first defeat of the season would come at the Emirates, but it would arrive two matchdays later at Stamford Bridge.
5th Chelsea - 50 points (1st - 55 points)
Merson rightfully guessed that Chelsea would taste defeat at the Emirates earlier this season, and hasn't backed Antonio Conte's side to lose since.
4th Liverpool - 50 points (4th - 45 points)
Liverpool are the only side in the top six to match their current position, after Merse's predictions saw Jurgen Klopp's men go unbeaten from matchday 4 to 20.
3rd Manchester United - 52 points (6th - 41 points)
Merse clearly had higher hopes for United. He didn't see Jose Mourinho's side losing until they made the trip to Anfield on matchday eight, but the Red Devils had already lost to Manchester City and Watford by that stage.
2nd Manchester City - 52 points (5th - 43 points)
Pep Guardiola would be having a nicer time in England if Merson's predictions were true. Merse's anticipated the Citizens going on a 14-match unbeaten run from matchday 5 to 18 - but they lost to Spurs, Chelsea and Leicester in that time.
1st Arsenal - 58 points (2nd - 47 points)
Merson is yet to predict an Arsenal league defeat this season. In the Sky Sports pundit's predictions table, the new 'invincibles' would sit six points clear at the top of the league.
