Leeds United midfielder has been linked with a return.
Bookies Ladbrokes have made Leeds United favourites to sign midfielder Fabian Delph.
The Whites are priced at 4/1 to bring in the Manchester City man, overtaking previous favourites Newcastle United who have drifted out to 8/1.
Another of Delph’s former clubs, Aston Villa, are priced at 6/1, with West Bromwich Albion at 7/1.
Manchester City’s Jesus Navas and Fabian Delph during training
Delph was linked with a surprise return to Leeds this week by Teamtalk, who added that Manchester City are keen to retain his services.
Their decision could be swayed by their own activity, with HITC Sport understanding City are keen on signing Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho, whose arrival would restrict Delph’s first team opportunities.
Ladbrokes News’ Dave Burin said: “The good times look to be returning at Elland Road, and the rise of the fallen giants could continue with Delph’s dramatic homecoming.”
Manchester City’s Fabian Delph in action
Leeds are currently in third place in the Championship and harbour hopes of winning promotion back to the Premier League.
Central midfield is one of their strong points, but the chance to bring Delph back should not be easily discarded.
Leeds’ chief executive Ben Mansford is Delph’s former agent and remains in touch with the 27-year-old, as he told BBC Radio Leeds last year.
