The German under-20 international looks set to head to Villa Park.
Reports in Germany are suggesting that Aston Villa are set to sign Anton Donkor from VfL Wolfsburg. It is being reported by Bild that Villa are set to sign the player after he was told first-team football was unlikely to be offered to him at the Volkswagen Arena.
It’s reported he is set to train with Aston Villa before concluding a permanent transfer.
General view of Villa Park
The 19-year-old winger, full name Anton-Leander Donkor-Oppong, can play on either the right or left, but prefers the latter. He can even play through the middle.
The teenager is a Germany under-20 international but he has not yet featured for the senior side at Wolfsburg. Donkor has been featuring for the Wolfsburg second team in the German lower leagues this season.
General view of Wolfsburg fans
The wide man has never been called up to the first-team squad so it will be interesting to see if he is being targeted by Aston Villa with first-team immediacy in mind. What appears more likely is that he will be used in the development team for the time being with a view to becoming an Aston Villa first-teamer.
