Mark Warburton took Rangers to Germany but suffered a heavy loss.
It was an opportunity for Warburton to try some new things and test his players against top opponents – considering how high up the Bundesliga table Leipzig currently are.
Oliver Burke in action for RB Leipzig
In the end the German side proved far too hot to handle for Rangers. They won 4-0 thanks to a strike from Timo Werner, a brace from Yussuf Poulsen and one from Scottish international Oliver Burke in a game they could simply not get a grip of.
But whilst Rangers players struggled to match their German opponents on the pitch, the fans were truly brilliant.
Over 8,000 Rangers fans made the trip to Germany for the game, an impressive amount for what was essentially a friendly match.
After the game RB Leipzig decided to show their appreciation for the Rangers fans with this tweet:
Rangers fans no doubt crave big European adventures again after a few years in the European wilderness.
The result was not what they would have wanted but perhaps should be expected against a team of Leipzig’s quality.
But the fans will now hope to back in Europe for a competitive fixture very soon.
