Leeds' Chris Wood celebrates scoring their first goal with teammates

Leeds won the Championship fixture thanks to a goal from Chris Wood.

Leeds United took on Derby County in the Championship last night and picked up a much deserved 1-0 win at Elland Road.

The result was more than fair over 90 minutes as Leeds dominated proceedings and Chris Wood’s 17th goal of the season proved to be enough for victory.

Leeds are now up to third in the Championship table and are looking increasingly like being play-off contenders for this season after an incredible run of form.

The result was one that certainly got the Leeds United players excited on Twitter – as they revelled in their latest victory.

Even those who could not play were happy to express their joy. Both Liam Cooper and Hadi Sacko were missing from the game with injury problems but were very quick to tweet their happiness at the win and the fantastic performance that Leeds put in:

 

 

Luke Ayling was also pleased with the result. He was playing at centre-back because of the injury to Cooper and Pontus Jansson’s suspension and did well throughout. He tweeted this message:

 

They were not alone in praising Leeds’ performance and celebrating it on social media. Swedish striker Marcus Antonsson and midfielder Eunan O’Kane had this to say about the win:

 

 

Leeds face Barnsley next as they aim to continue marching up the table.
