Matt Le Tissier has denied that it is inevitable that Southampton defender Virgil Van Dijk will move to Everton.
The Toffees have been linked with the Van Dijk throughout the January transfer window so far.
Everton have reportedly identified Van Dijk as a possible addition, with Ronald Koeman keen to spend big money to bring the powerful centre-back to Goodison Park (Daily Mirror).
Koeman and Van Dijk worked together at Southampton earlier in their careers, and the Dutch boss is eager for a reunion with his compatriot.
However, when it was suggested that Van Dijk moving to Everton was inevitable, Southampton legend had a differing view.
Think he may attract the interest of bigger clubs IMO https://t.co/s0sapqhf9s— Matt Le Tissier (@mattletiss7) January 13, 2017
Le Tissier suggested that if Van Dijk does leave Southampton in the near future, it will be to a big club than the Toffees.
Everton are currently in seventh place in the Premier League table, while Southampton are in 10th position.
