Report: Cagliari want to sign Leeds United 'keeper Marco Silvestri this summer

Leeds' Marco Silvestri looks dejected after Liverpool's Divock Origi scores their first goal

The Leeds United player has barely featured and could move on at the end of the current campaign.

According to a report from Corriere Dello Sport, Cagliari want to sign Leeds United goalkeeper Marco Silvestri at the end of the current campaign.

The 25-year-old was previously first choice at Elland Road but he has slipped down the pecking order since Garry Monk took charge, with the current Whites boss preferring summer signing Rob Green between the posts.

As a result, Silvestri has had to make do with domestic cup action, with four appearances in the EFL Cup and one in the FA Cup to date.

With Bailey Peacock-Farrell tipped to be a future number one at Leeds it would be no surprise to see Silvestri move on in the summer, especially if Green remains for another year, and Cagliari are said to be ready to make their move then.

The report from Corriere Dello Sport claims the Italian side will stick with AC Milan loanee Gabriel until the end of the current campaign, at which point their intention is to bring the Leeds ‘keeper back to his former club.

Much could depend on which division Leeds find themselves in, with a promotion charge well underway at Elland Road, but only time will tell which of the club’s four first-team stoppers will be there to enjoy it.
