Highly-rated Reading teenager Jordan Holsgrove has signed his first professional contract at the club, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Attacking midfielder Holsgrove is highly-regarded within the corridors of power at the Madejski Stadium after coming through the ranks at the Championship club.
The 17-year-old is following in the footsteps of his father, Paul Holsgrove, who also played for Reading for three years in his footballing career.
Reading have high hopes for Holsgrove with the youngster impressing as he has worked his way up the club's youth teams and they see him as a future first-team star.
Holsgrove's progress has not gone unnoticed among other clubs higher up the football pyramid with HITC understanding that Liverpool failed in a move to lure him to Anfield last summer as Reading managed to keep hold of their starlet.
The Scotland Under-17 international has made one appearance for Reading's Under-23s this season in the Premier League 2 and the club are keen to fast-track into the first-team as soon as possible.
News of Holsgrove penning his first professional contract will come as a major boost to Reading as they look fend off any interest from other clubs in the midfielder.
