Tottenham Hotspur striker Marcus Edwards made his senior debut earlier this season.

Mauricio Pochettino has told Football.London that Marcus Edwards is edging closer to a return to Tottenham Hotspur training.

Edwards has been out since October with injury, after twisting his ankle in training.

The 17-year-old appeared to be on the verge of breaking into Spurs’ senior side at the time when he was ruled out, but his injury has been a major blow.

Edwards was only expected to miss six weeks when he initially picked up the ankle problem, but it has kept him out for over two months now.

However, Pochettino has hinted that the youngster is finally nearing full fitness and could return to training soon.

“It’s always up to the player. He’s still recovering but he’s very close to starting to train with the team again,” the Argentine boss said.

Edwards has already made his senior Spurs debut, in the EFL Cup against Gillingham.

Edwards is part of an exciting group of youngsters breaking through at Spurs, with the likes of Cameron Carter-Vickers and Harry Winks also showing great promise.
