Jon Toral completed a move to Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers yesterday.

Jon Toral has told the Herald Scotland that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was fully supportive of his move to Glasgow Rangers.

Toral completed a loan move to Rangers until the end of the season yesterday, with the attacking midfielder expected to have a key role to play at Ibrox.

Toral had been on loan at Granada, but cut his time with the La Liga club short to complete a move to Glasgow.

And Toral said: “The boss at Arsenal was very keen for me to join Rangers so that was a big help too.

“They have a great connection with Mark. They respect and admire him and the like the way he plays football.

“Mark and Arsenal have a good relationship. They like his style of play and the way he works, so that made this decision an easy one for me.”

Toral has become Rangers’ second signing of the January transfer window, following the arrival of Emerson Hyndman from Bournemouth.

Warburton has been keen to use his contacts in England to bring players to Rangers.

The Light Blues will be hoping that Toral’s arrival helps them consolidate their position in second place in the Scottish Premiership table, and close the gap on Celtic.

Toral has linked up with Warburton, during a spell at Brentford earlier in their respective careers.

Toral could make his debut for Rangers, when they take on Motherwell in the Scottish Cup in two weekends’ time.
