The 33-year-old’s loan deal at Hibs runs out this Sunday, and Lennon has suggested that he wants the veteran to remain at Easter Road.
“We’re not any further down the line with Kris,” Lennon told The Daily Record. “It’s a question of finance as well – whether we can do it over a length of time.
“I think he is enjoying it here and it has been good for him and us. We’re four points clear now and we weren’t when he came in.
“He won us the game at Falkirk and he played a big part in the game against Dundee United last week as well. He is a class player.”
Commons is a good attacking midfielder and he has done well at Hibernian, and it would make sense for him from a footballing perspective to remain at the club.
Celtic are in the Scottish Premiership and are a much bigger club than Hibs are, but the Scotsman is not going to get much playing time at the Bhoys this season.
Brendan Rodgers’s side are at the top of the league table at the moment with 58 points from 20 matches.
The Hoops are 19 points clear of second-placed and Old Firm rivals Rangers and have a game in hand.
Meanwhile, Hibernian currently find themselves at the top of the Scottish Championship table with 42 points from 20 matches.
