West Ham United have failed to live up to expectations so far this season.

During an exclusive interview with the club's official website, Hammers left-back Aaron Cresswell urged the club's supporters to get behind the team to help them through the challenging period they are currently in.

West Ham's move to their new stadium this year has not lived up to expectations, with Slaven Bilic's men being on the receiving end of some humbling defeats, including a 5-1 loss to Arsenal in the Premier League, and a 5-0 thumping by Manchester City in the FA Cup.

And Cresswell, who has made 15 appearances for the Hammers so far, in what has been a season that has been disrupted by injury, called upon the West Ham faithful to make his side's job easier when playing at home, during an interview with WHUFC.com:

"Of course it makes a massive difference when the fans are right behind us, encouraging us and supporting us. As players, a positive atmosphere makes it easier for us to relax and concentrate on the job, while it also makes it more difficult for the visiting team to do the same thing."

Next up on the agenda for Bilic's men is a home game against Crystal Palace on Saturday, before they travel to Teesside to take on Middlesbrough the following weekend, and a return of six points from those fixtures could turn West Ham's flagging season around in an instant.

That will, of course, be easier said than done, with both their opponents in desperate need of points themselves.
