Spurs are preparing for life without Paul Mitchell, who is leaving his role as head of recruitment.

Tottenham Hotspur are actively on the hunt for a director of football, according to a report from the London Evening Standard.

Spurs are looking for a replacement for Paul Mitchell. The head of recruitment handed in his resignation in August and is still serving his notice period at the club – as he looks to make a move into first-team management elsewhere.

In light of those reports Spurs are said to be in the hunt for a new director of football to run the rule over transfer activities.

The Standard report that the search is ongoing and that an announcement is due in the next few weeks.

Tottenham Hotspur have certainly had mixed fortunes in the past with director of football appointments. Franco Baldini oversaw some poor signings at the club and that has put some Spurs fans off the idea.

Tottenham have however made some odd moves in the transfer department recently, with Vincent Janssen not looking up to scratch and the potential overspend on Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko.

So the appointment of a top director of football might be necessary for the club.
