Huddersfield Town have rejected a bid from Charlton Athletic for midfielder Kyle Dempsey, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Dempsey is currently on a season-long loan at Fleetwood Town, but League One rivals Charlton are hoping to lure the 21-year-old to the Valley.
Dempsey has impressed at Highbury, making 22 appearances in all competitions for the Cod Army and Fleetwood would like to keep him on a permanent basis.
His performances have not gone unnoticed elsewhere and Charlton have lodged a bid for Dempsey, which has, however, been turned down by Huddersfield.

Dempsey joined Huddersfield in July 2015 from Carlisle after he caught the eye for the League Two club, scoring 11 goals in 51 games.
The all-action midfielder made 24 appearances for Huddersfield in his debut season, but manager David Wagner was happy for him to go out on loan this season as he was well down the pecking order in terms of midfield options.
Charlton boss Karl Robinson is a big admirer of Dempsey, and sees him as a key addition to his plans going forward. It remains to be seen if Charlton will go back with an improved offer for Dempsey before the close of the transfer window.
