The report suggests that Crystal Palace could find it difficult to turn down the bid from the Chinese Super League side.
A report in The Sun has suggested that Crystal Palace have been offered £40 million for star striker Christian Benteke by Chinese Super League side Beijing Guoan.
The Sun reports that the Eagles will find it difficult to turn down the bid for the 26-year-old due to the fact that this deal would see Palace make a very quick profit on the Belgian, having signed him for less than £30 million from Liverpool in the summer.
Crystal Palace’s Christian Benteke
And it appears that Beijing Guoan’s offer is not only likely to tempt Crystal Palace into potentially selling, but it may also prove extremely hard for the striker to turn down as The Sun suggests that the side have put a contract on the table that would see the former Aston Villa man earn around £165,000 a week.
Although accepting the offer would see Palace make a significant amount of money that would surely boost their funds for the January transfer window, it would undoubtedly be a gamble for the Premier League club to leave the path clear for Benteke to follow the likes of Oscar and Ramires, who have both moved from England to China in recent times.
Crystal Palace manager Sam Allardyce
Benteke has scored eight times in 17 league games since moving from Anfield, while the club’s other strikers have contributed just three goals between them this term.
And with Palace not out of danger by any stretch of the imagination, Allardyce would surely need replacements lined up and assurances that funds would be available to him before giving the audacious move the green light.
