Aston Villa striker Rudy Gestede’s impending move to Middlesbrough, could be good news for Leeds United.
The Daily Mail has reported that Aston Villa striker Rudy Gestede is closing in a move to Middlesbrough, and that could be good news for Leeds United.
Gestede is set to undergo a medical at the Riverside Stadium, ahead of a proposed January move.
The target-man’s arrival at Middlesbrough should push Dave Nugent closer to the exit door on Teeside, and that increases the possibility of a move to Leeds.

The Sun have suggested that Garry Monk’s side are interested in signing Nugent, and the 31-year-old wants to move to Elland Road.
Leeds believe that Nugent would enhance the quality of their attacking options, and provide competition for Chris Wood up-front.
Nugent has barely featured for Boro so far this season, and Gestede’s arrival will only increase competition for places at Aitor Karanka’s side even further.

Middlesbrough, therefore, are likely to be open to offloading Nugent, if the opportunity arises, and that could play right into Leeds’ hands.
If Nugent did move to Leeds it would be a statement of the Yorkshire’s side’s intent, as they aim to earn promotion from the Championship this season.
