As if the goal was a shock in itself, the scorer proved to prompt both derision and delight from the Forest faithful on social networking site Twitter.

Unfortunately for Forest, the equaliser was as good as it got, with Newcastle outshining the East Midlands club with both possession and shots on goal - although the catalyst for Newcastle's second and third goals seemed to belong to Matt Mills dismissal on the hour mark.

Mills was booked twice within the space of a minute to leave Forest with ten men for the remaining third of the match. Newcastle were eager to capitalise and ultimately succeeded thanks to two strikes from Dwight Gayle - the first coming just minutes after Mills saw red, and then Newcastle's number 9 converted game's final goal with ten minutes to spare.
