Claude Puel drops hint regarding Southampton's potential January transfer business

Southampton will be looking to push on in the new year, as they look for another top-six finish.

During an exclusive interview with the club's official Twitter account, Saints boss Claude Puel declared his intention to work with what he currently has available to him, rather than bring any new signings into the club during the January transfer window.

Southampton have been nothing if not inconsistent so far this term, and have had as many disappointing performances as they have impressive ones.

They currently sit in eighth position in the Premier League table, two points adrift of seventh placed Everton.

For their season to judged as a success, they will surely have to at least match their seventh placed finish of two seasons ago, and to do that, many people believe that Puel will have to strengthen his options in January.

The Frenchman, however, is of the mindset that he has the talent already available amongst his ranks, and he told Southampton's official Twitter page how it is very unlikely that he will be doing any business next month:

“It’s always difficult to find a good solution in this period. I prefer to stay in a good concentration about my team, my players, to continue this work, to make progress and develop all the players. I want to say that I want to continue with these players, to develop them, to make good progress. The market of course is open perhaps for a good solution, a good opportunity, but I say it’s always a difficult period to find a good solution."

Next up for Southampton is a home game against West Bromwich Albion tomorrow in the Premier League, and a win could see them jump back inside the top seven, depending on Everton's result tonight.
