Leeds United star man put in an impressive performance against Aston Villa.

Pontus Jansson has been one of the signings of the season in the Championship, and Leeds United are anxiously hoping they can quickly make his loan switch permanent.

The Swedish international centre-back added to his reputation by scoring against Aston Villa last night, in a 1-1 draw.

Jansson was imposing in defence and helped nullify Jonathan Kodjia and Ross McCormack, with only a penalty leading to Villa's goal, after defensive partner Liam Cooper had made a handball and conceded a spot kick.

Leeds are understood to have an option to sign Jansson after he has played 20 games, a milestone he will meet shortly, with the Yorkshire Evening Post reporting he was keen on a deal.

His display last night was one of many impressive performances he has turned in this season, and it had rival supporters - including fans of Premier League clubs - lauding his efforts, dreaming their own clubs could steal in and sign him from under Leeds' noses.
