The Schalke 04 attacker has been linked with a move to North London for some time now.

Tottenham Hotspur remain interested in the signature of Schalke 04 attacker Max Meyer, according to reports in Germany, and could make a move for the player in the summer.

It has been reported in the print edition of SportBild today, and relayed by the likes of Goal, Sportal and Lattenkreuz in Germany, that Meyer remains on the radar at Spurs and could be a €40 million (£33.7 million) target in the summer.

The reports claim that Schalke are hoping to extend their contract with Meyer, which expires in 2018, before Tottenham make them an offer they can’t refuse.

Tottenham were of course linked with the player throughout the summer.

It was reported by Bild earlier in the summer that Spurs were ready to splash out £38 million on young playmaker this summer.

Nothing ever came of it but Meyer went on to admit to SportBild that he was aware of Tottenham’s interest, stating:

"I know that interest was there and was asked at the club. But Schalke immediately put a stop to it. This was the end of the matter.”

A move for Meyer would undoubtedly come as a surprise considering his current form. The German talent has had a relatively poor 2016-17 campaign in Gelsenkirchen and Tottenham are well stocked in his position.

So it will be interesting to see if his form does improve in the second-half of the season, so he may warrant such a lofty price-tag.
