According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Everton are again interested in signing Valencia defender Aymen Abdennour – but face competition from French side Marseille.
The Toffees have been shaky defensively of late, and manager Ronald Koeman should be looking to bring a new centre back during the January transfer window.

Ashley Williams – a summer signing from Swansea City – is 32, whilst Phil Jagielka is now 34, and Koeman should be looking to sign a centre back under the age of 30 in January.
In August, the Daily Mail reported that Everton were lining up a £15million move to sign Valencia centre back Aymen Abdennour – and reports now claim that the Toffees are set to return for him.
Aymen Abdennour celebrates
Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo report that Everton ad Marseille have both made offers to sign Abdennour in January – though Abdennour isn't yet sold on either move.
Abdennour, 27, has started just six league games for Valencia this season, but appears to be fighting for his place with the La Liga club, or is waiting for the right offer to leave the club.
The 6ft 2in centre back possesses great strength, and has Champions League experience under his belt having starred for Monaco before his 2015 move to Valencia.
Abdennour hasn't enjoyed a great time in Spain, and Koeman may believe that he can rejuvenate his career – but one possible drawback is that Abdennour is set to head to the Africa Cup of Nations with Tunisia in January, meaning that he wouldn't be available immediately even if Everton did manage to convince him to move.
