West Ham United co-chairman David Sullivan has commented on the club’s January transfer plans.
West Ham United co-chairman David Sullivan has told the club’s official website that he is hoping to bring in ‘quality reinforcements’ during the January transfer window.
The Hammers beat Hull City 1-0 on Saturday evening, with Mark Noble’s penalty giving Slaven Bilic a second win in a row, and seven points in a week having also drawn 2-2 against Liverpool and beaten Burnley 1-0.

The performance wasn’t great, as West Ham rode their luck with Hull hitting the woodwork on a number of occasions, but the result was the main thing, as Saturday’s win has taken the Hammers up into 13th place in the Premier League table.
West Ham haven’t quite turned the corner just yet, but the results over the last week have been a major boost to manager Bilic, who was coming under increasing pressure following the 5-1 home defeat to Arsenal earlier this month.
After a disappointing summer transfer window though, West Ham still need reinforcements during the January market, and co-chairman David Sullivan has now commented on the club’s plans.
West Ham United’s Cheikhou Kouyate will be going to the Africa Cup of Nations next month
Sullivan, who spoke to the club’s official website after Saturday’s win over Hull City, stated that West Ham are hoping to bring in ‘quality reinforcements’ next month to strengthen Bilic’s options, given that so many summer signings have underwhelmed.
Arthur Masuaku, Alvaro Arbeloa, Havard Nordtveit, Sofiane Feghouli, Gokhan Tore, Simone Zaza and Jonathan Calleri have all struggled since joining the Hammers over the summer, and some could even depart next month having been so disappointing.
Sullivan added that West Ham must fill some gaps in the squad given that the likes of Feghouli (Algeria), Andre Ayew (Ghana) and Cheikhou Kouyate (Senegal) are all set to play at the Africa Cup of Nations in early 2017.
“We are also getting closer to the start of the transfer window, when we hope to bring in some quality reinforcements to further strengthen the squad,” said Sullivan. “We are aware that there are some gaps to be filled, particularly with the African Cup of Nations starting in January, and you can be sure we will be working morning, noon and night to bring in the right players to help push us further up the standing”, he added.
