Aston Villa need to show consistency between now and the end of the season.

Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has explained what he believes will be the vital ingredient for his side in their hopes of gaining promotion to the Premier League this season, as quoted by the Express & Star.

Bruce was handed the reigns at Villa Park in October, and has guided his side to five wins, three draws and a loss during the nine games he has been in charge - a run that has seen them rise to 13th Championship table, just four points adrift of the promotion play-off spots.

And the Villa boss explained how consistency will be key for his side, especially during the challenging month of December, as quoted by the Express & Star:

"It’s all about finding consistency. Brighton have that consistency, Newcastle have got a bit of it too. That’s what you need – and we have now lost just once in nine games. This is a big important month and we have to keep going in this vein.”

Despite their fine run of form, many Villa fans are concerned that January could prove to be a difficult month for their side, with so many important players set to depart for the African Cup of Nations, including Albert Adomah and Jonathan Kodjia.

And their chances of making a sustained push for the top-six will likely be heavily dependent on how Bruce manages to strengthen his options over the course of the January transfer window.
