Former Leicester City and Derby County midfielder Robbie Savage suggested on The Monday Night Club show on BBC Radio 5live on Monday evening (broadcast from 7pm, December 12, 2016) that Everton should make a move for Burnley defender Michael Keane in the January transfer window.
Savage, though, also suggested that it may not be possible for Everton to attract the former Manchester United player, as he could harbour ambitions of playing for a Champions League club.
“I think they need to go for a young centre-half - I think Ashley Williams has done well - somebody like Michael Keane at Burnley,” said the former Wales international midfielder on The Monday Night Club show on BBC Radio 5live on Monday evening (broadcast from 7pm, December 12, 2016). “But would he be looking to go and play for a Champions League side possibly?”
Keane is a good defender and has progressed well at Burnley since joining the Clarets in 2015.
The 23-year-old failed to make a huge impact at United and was able to make just a single appearance in the Premier League for the Red Devils.
The former England Under-21 international is playing well at the moment and has established himself as an important player for Burnley.
While Keane would be a good signing for Everton, the problem is that the Clarets may not be willing to part company with the defender in the January transfer window.
Sean Dyche’s side got promoted from the Championship at the end of last season and are aiming to avoid relegation from the Premier League.
