A number of Championship clubs are lining up moves for highly-rated Wycombe Wanderers defender Aaron Pierre, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Pierre has been in outstanding form for Wycombe this season and he was nominated for the November Player of the Month in League Two as a result of his impressive displays.

The 23-year-old central defender has helped Wycombe to five clean sheets in the last six games and chipped in with two goals to help Wycombe to six straight wins to climb into the top six in League Two.

Pierre is regarded as one of the best centre-halves in the lower leagues and teams higher up the football ladder are ready to make a move for him when the transfer window reopens next month.

Several clubs tried to sign Pierre last summer, but Wycombe managed to keep hold of the pacy defender although they are bracing themselves for renewed interest in January.

Wycombe would love to keep hold of Pierre as they look to maintain their bid for promotion, but with the player entering the final six months of his contract at Adams Park they would be unable to resist any sizeable offers for Pierre in the New Year.
