Sheffield Wednesday's next few games are crucial to play-off bid

As Sheffield Wednesday attempt to bounce back from their defeat at the weekend, their next few games could be crucial to their play-off push.

Sheffield Wednesday have done brilliantly to steady the ship following their play-off final disappointment back in May, and now seven months later they look poised to once again push for another Wembley performance.

With a busy festive period coming up, consistency has never been more important and the next few games for the Owls will provide a massive test for Carlos Carvalhal's men.

Following on from a disappointing 2-1 loss at the hands of Reading, two more games to round off a busy seven days is a tough ask for any club. However, both clashes are definitely winnable at home to Barnsley and Rotherham united respectively.

Given the unpredictability of the Championship, the real test here is whether or not Wednesday can keep their nerve when they really should be taking home all three points.

They have the experience, the quality and the home crowd behind them against two sides they know very well.

If they can come straight out of the gates and get the opposition on the back foot early, Wednesday have more than enough fire power up top to see out the victory.

If they are serious about making it back to Wembley, six points from their next two matches will be an important statement to the rest of the contenders around them heading into 2017.
