Video: Birmingham City fans on promotion chances

After two straight defeats, Birmingham City fans have mixed feelings over their chances of gaining promotion to the Premier League this season.

Hailed by many as constant-overachievers, Gary Rowett's Birmingham City have come a long way since his appointment as manager in 2014. Looking destined for relegation to League One, Gary Rowett inherited a Birmingham City side who were continuously struggling under former boss, Lee Clark, dragging them up away from the relegation and slowly up the table ever since.

This great form, which has seen Gary Rowett's stock as a manager rise ten fold over the last two years, seemed to be continuing this season as well, with Birmingham City spending much of this campaign in the top six. Impressive victories such as their 3-0 thumping of Norwich City and their hard-fought 2-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday are just some of the highlights of Birmingham City's season so far. And yet, the Blues now seem to be going off the boil.

Conceding seven goals in their last two games, Birmingham City have now suffered two defeats on the bounce. A 0-3 home defeat to Barnsley, followed by a 4-0 hammering at the hands of Newcastle United, has seen Gary Rowett's side slip out of the top six, falling now to 8th place. With this in mind, HITC Sport asked Birmingham City fans how they felt about their clubs promotion chances this season.

"Absolutely no chance" was the response from one Birmingham City fan, when asked whether he thought Gary Rowett would be taking City back up to the Premier League. "We don't have the money, we don't have the players, we'll finish just outside the play-offs", the fan went on to add, highlighting all around feeling of general pessimism at St Andrews.

But there was some hope to be found, as some fans mentioned their belief that, if Birmingham City could at least make it into the play-offs, they might just have a chance. And who could blame them? Crazier things have happened in the Championship.
