Southampton and Middlesbrough went head-to-head at the weekend.
Southampton defeated Middlesbrough 1-0 in their latest Premier League match, with summer signing Sofiane Boufal scoring the only goal of the game.
Saints manager Claude Puel continued to rotate his squad, making eight changes from the side that slipped out of the Europa League last week, and this result shows the strength in depth at St Mary’s these days.
One player that came in was Dutch midfielder Jordy Clasie and he did not disappoint.
The 25-year-old has been in and out of the side under Puel, featuring nine times in the league and 14 times in all competitions.
He will be all too aware of the need to perform at his best in order to maintain his place in the Southampton starting line-up, and it will be interesting to see how much he features over the Christmas and New Year period.
After the match we took to Twitter to see what Southampton fans thought of Clasie’s latest performance and you can read a selection of what we found below:
Seems like Clasie is starting to come into his own. Exciting times.— Saint Puel (@DictatePlay) December 11, 2016
Don't know what game you were watching if you didn't think Clasie was man of the match today! #saintsfc— dan (@TheDanJames) December 11, 2016
Solid performance from #SaintsFC today. Nothing spectacular but job done. Thought Clasie & Boufal excellent. Boro were terrible.— ItchenNorth (@mptterrell) December 11, 2016
Clasie played decent again. Hopefully he can be consistent with his performances now.— Mathew Cannon (@Saintsforever24) December 12, 2016
was amazing to see Boufal and Tadic play together, looked quality. Clasie also really impressed me today— Jëm❄️ (@VanDxjk) December 11, 2016
