Glasgow Rangers manager Mark Warburton comments on signing players in the January transfer window.

Rangers manager Mark Warburton has suggested to The Telegraph that he plans to make loan signings in the January transfer window.

Warburton has explained why signing players on loan in January is going to be good for Rangers.

“A loan would be good because clubs don’t want to sell their best players and if they have to they charge double the price,” the Englishman told The Telegraph.

“If you are desperately trying to buy a player you end up paying twice the price, so the loan market is the best one, absolutely.”

Rangers are second in the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 32 points from 17 matches.

The Gers are eight points behind leaders and Old Firm rivals Celtic, who have three games in hand.

Warburton’s side are unlikely to win the league title this season, but they are certainly in the race for the second place.

Rangers, though, will face tough competition for the runners-up spot in the table.

Both Aberdeen and Heart of Midlothian will be aiming to finish second in the Scottish Premiership table this season.

Rangers, who won 2-0 against Hearts at Ibrox in the league at the weekend, will return to action on Friday evening when they take on Hamilton Academical at the New Douglas Park in the Scottish Premiership.

The Gers will head into the match against Martin Canning’s side as favourites.
