Sunderland take on Chelsea this Wednesday, still reeling from their humiliating 3-0 loss against relegation rivals Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium this weekend.
It was a result that moved Sunderland back to the bottom of the Premier League table.
Sunderland's Jordan Pickford
Next up for the Black Cats is a tough task against table-topping and in-form Chelsea at the Stadoum of Light. With the magnitude of that game clear for the Sunderland players they have been hard at work in training this week with the hope of pulling off a shock.
One player involved in training however will just be hoping to make the matchday squad.
Sunderland snapped up Portuguese goalkeeper Mika in the summer as they looked to improve their goalkeeping area.
He arrived in September after Sunderland pushed for his signature from FIFA, after initially missing the transfer deadline.
It came amid something of a goalkeeper crisis at the club with Vito Mannone out injured and Jordan Pickford also battling a thigh problem.
Since his arrival however Mika has not played a single game for the Sunderland first-team since his arrival.
With the form of Pickford and Mannone now back to full fitness Mika looks like he won’t even be on the bench for the near future.
He will have to keep training hard if he is to have any chance of first-team football for Sunderland this season.
