Liverpool drew 2-2 with West Ham United in Sunday's Premier League clash.

Liverpool vice-captain James Milner offered an honest assessment about the Jekyll & Hyde element of Liverpool following their 2-2 draw with West Ham United.

Speaking to the club's official website, Milner feels they need to cut out the poor aspects of their play and be a bit more solid when the side is not necessarily at it's best.

The Reds produced some terrific attacking football again but defensive mistakes proved to be their downfall as they were denied all three points by Slaven Bilic's men.

Milner told liverpoolfc.com: "The good is very good but the bad is very bad, so we need to cut that out and bring those two closer together,.

"When we're on an off day or an off 20 minutes during a game - which is going to happen, you're never really going to dominate a game and be firing on all cylinders for 95 minutes - that's where we need to make sure we are more solid, don't give away silly free-kicks and keep it simple."

Liverpool are certainly very hard to come up against when they are at their best going forward, but more and more sides are starting to fancy their chances against them given their habit of leaking goals.

That is something they are going to have to address, and they need to take their opportunities to kill of teams when presented to them.

After going 1-0 up against West Ham, the visitors slowly but surely got back into the game and took advantage of any mishaps from the Reds.

It's certainly something that needs to be addressed over the course of the season and beyond. Right now they are in third place, six points behind leaders Chelsea. If they have serious title ambitions this season, that is a gap they can't allow to expand.
