Boufal scored a wonderful winning goal against Middlesbrough on Sunday.
Boufal showed just why Southampton parted with a record fee of £16 million in Sunday's 1-0 win over Middlesbrough as his wonderful strike from distance settled the contest.
It is not the first time he has shown he can find the net from range, as he did so in an EFL Cup tie against Sunderland earlier on in the season.
Ward-Prowse is quoted in the Daily Echo, saying: “He’s one of those players who can create something out of nothing and that’s great for us.
“We know he can produce a bit of magic when we are struggling like today. Credit to him and we’re pleased for him to get the goal.
“He’s got to carry that on now.”
Certainly with the absence of Charlie Austin, the onus is on others to step up and provide the goal threat. Boufal has shown he has a couple of top class strikes in him and if he can manage to find the net regularly that will do a lot in terms of making sure that Austin is not missed as much.
Boufal's strike ensured the Saints moved into the top half of the table, and bounced back from disappointing results against Crystal Palace, and their Europa League exit at the hands of Hapoel Be'er Sheva.
Although Boufal may be the club's record signing, he is still just finding his feet in English football, especially given he had an injury to deal with which means he is probably behind other players in terms of fitness.
However, his moments of quality give a promising glimpse of more to come.
