Harry Redknapp has told the Jim White Show, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 12th December, that he cannot believe Ross Barkley isn’t starting for Everton.
Barkley has been kept on the Everton bench for their last two matches, with Ronald Koeman seemingly having his doubts over the England international.
Barkley was not used at all, as Everton picked up a 1-1 draw against Manchester United two weekends’ ago, and he was only given 25 minutes against Watford last Saturday.
Redknapp finds it baffling why Barkley is not getting into Everton’s team, and he is not convinced that Koeman is getting the best out of the 23-year-old.
“I’m a big Barkley fan and you need to find a way of getting the best out of him. He looks like a boy who needs an arm round him. He’s a match-winner for me, I think he’s a great player,” Redknapp said.
“He’s got everything. He’s a big lad, he’s got great ability on the ball. It’s all there. They need him in the team - you can’t tell me he couldn’t get in this Everton team.”
Koeman has publicly criticised Barkley this season, with the Dutch boss seemingly not entirely impressed by the talented youngster.
Barkley has only scored twice in claimed one assist in 13 Premier League appearances for Everton this term.
Barkley could come back into Everton’s team on Tuesday evening, when Koeman’s side take on Arsenal at Goodison Park.
